Jennifer Derner, MSW, LCSW, CDCES

Credentials:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Missouri, #005064

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

Education:

  • Master of Social Work, Saint Louis University

During my career in medical social work, I worked with patients from all walks of life in hospitals, primary care clinics, hospice programs, and skilled nursing facilities. In addition, I obtained additional training and experience providing diabetes education to individuals and groups. As a Lifestyle Coach for the Diabetes Prevention Program, I facilitated the year-long program for groups of individuals living with prediabetes who were trying to make lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of diabetes. I enjoy helping clients and their families who are dealing with health challenges, especially those unique to living with diabetes, such as diabetes burnout/stress.

In my spare time, I enjoy being in nature, including visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden where I enjoy taking photos of the plants and flowers. I also enjoy travel to scenic places and find it hard to pick a favorite among mountains, tress, and oceans.

My connection to nature is reflected in Profero’s logo. I’ve always been fascinated by butterflies and the transformation they represent. I see counseling as an opportunity for you to transform into who you want to be, or who you are deep inside that needs to be freed from your past.

“I can attest to Jennifer’s dedication to her clients' needs. She offers compassion and has a genuine interest in each person’s story. Her experience offers clients a therapist who has a thorough understanding of health, the healthcare system, and the losses associated with changing health or the death of a loved one.”
