How do I schedule an appointment and pay for my session?
Complete the secure contact form to request a new client consultation or initial evaluation. Established clients will be able to schedule directly in the secure client portal if they choose. Once scheduled, you will receive information to enter your credit/HSA/FSA card information in the secure client portal for it to be charged at the time of service.
What is therapy/counseling?
Therapy is an opportunity to talk to someone outside of your day-to-day life who can really listen and be objective. There is no agenda for what you should believe or how you should feel or behave. Profero creates a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to be vulnerable and share your innermost thoughts and feelings, allowing you to explore what is preventing you from living the life you want and find ways to move forward. Therapy can challenge you and support you. It can bring up painful memories or feelings but in order to heal, you must go through them. Our strong emotions are like a boulder. We may try to go over or around, but it’s still there with all its weight. Eventually it will catch up to us. When we move through, we instead break up the boulder into manageable pieces. Even if we don’t eliminate those memories or emotions entirely, we can move forward with the clarity and strength to manage them should they arise again.
What should I expect during the initial evaluation?
At Profero, we begin each evaluation by sending you forms through a secure client portal for you to complete prior to the first session. We thoroughly review your information before the session to begin to get to know you and what your concerns and symptoms are. At the session, we will spend the first few minutes covering details, such as policies and procedures, before settling in for you to share what has brought you to therapy. There may be questions to gather more information or to clarify. The goal for the initial session is as much about building a relationship with you as it is completing an assessment to determine how best we can help you. We collaborate with you every step of the way and to ensure quality care, we develop a personalized treatment plan. Every journey is unique and has its own pace so treatment is fluid to meet your needs.
